WICT PHILADELPHIA PRESENTS "FALL INTO FASHION"
September 27, 2007
On September 27th, a very style-conscience crowd gathered at QVC Studio Park in the spirit of philanthropy to network and to learn about the latest trends for fall fashion. WICT Greater Philadelphia’s focus this evening was on a “Finishing Touch” drive for The Career Wardrobe. Event participants were encouraged to bring new and gently used professional accessories to help local women put their best foot forward when re-entering the workforce. The event exceeded expectations with a collection that filled an SUV full of clothes, shoes and accessories for the women’s organization.
A cocktail reception kicked off the event that was followed by a fashion-focused program brought to WICT by the accessory and apparel experts at QVC. Catherine Coquillard, the Vice President of Jewelry Merchandising, educated the audience about the key trends in jewelry:
- Indian-inspired dramatic, dangling earrings and intricate gold and gemstone patterns
- Medieval style with bold crosses, crests and insignias
- Jewels that evoke what Coquillard refers to as the “Privileged Life”. This category embodies all of the classic, ladylike favorites, such as pearl chokers and charm bracelets, which have been personified for ages by such fashion icons as Grace Kelly
Annette Repasch, Vice President of Merchandising, presented the upcoming trends in fashion. From Repasch, we learned that:
- Gray is the new black.
- Bold shades of blue, red and purple are a great way to add punch this season.
- Patent leather will provide an instant, and classic, update to any wardrobe.
- Keep those metallic accessories from the last few seasons, especially in gold and in bronze. Great news ladies - they are still going strong this fall.
The audience was joined by a surprise guest star - Carson Kressley of Bravo’s “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy” and a purveyor of a new line of clothing on QVC. Kressley delighted the group when he made an impromptu entrance onto the stage during the fashion show and went onto critique each audience member’s shoes!
A fashion show followed the presentation that was hosted by QVC’s Patti Reilly and demonstrated the key fashion trends we will see in the upcoming seasons. After the professional models stepped out, several WICT board members stepped in to model luxe formal evening and bridal wear from local Italian design maven Rina DiMontella.
WICT Greater Philadelphia was honored to support The Career Wardrobe and encourages our membership to think of the organization when you organize your closet to make room for the latest fall fashions. You can find out more about the organization on their website at www.careerwardrobe.com.
