The WICT Mentoring Program is a great opportunity for both emerging and established professionals to assist in personal and professional development through a formalized mentoring relationship. The program matches selected Mentees with Mentors based on various essential competencies as well as compatibility regarding the individual’s professional development needs. In addition to leadership training events and networking opportunities, each mentee creates an action plan for their developmental focus areas, to be addressed with their mentor’s support.

Eligibility for the 2010 Mentoring Program:
  • All mentee applicants should be Director-level and below.
  • All applicants must be a member of WICT Philadelphia.
  • Non-members must first join WICT before applying to the Mentoring Program.

Other Important Notes about the 2010 Mentoring Program:
  • All applications must be submitted by Friday, April 9th for consideration.
  • The Mentee application fee is $175 (due upon acceptance to the program).
  • All who apply are eligible for a Mentoring Program scholarship. For scholarship recipients, the application fee will be waived.

MENTORING PROGRAM TESTIMONIALS
Doug Gaston, Senior Vice President and General Counsel (Mentor)

I was invited to become a mentor by my dear friend and fellow Comcaster Barbara Gee. When I read some of the information about the program I thought it would be a good way for me to share some of what I’ve learned during my years at Comcast with someone looking to grow and prepare for additional challenges and opportunities in the Company. I truly believe in the power of one-on-one mentoring and was very pleased to see that my mentee, Doug Powell, was taking our conversations to heart and putting into practice some of the ideas and suggestions we developed during our time together. I can honestly say that I could see the growth in Doug’s confidence and professional demeanor over the course of the year.

Doug Powell, Manager of Customer Care (Mentee)

The mentoring program was very, very profitable. I can’t explain how much it has taught me. Being mentored by Doug Gaston and through WICT could not have come at a better time in my career tenure with Comcast. I have only been with Comcast a little over 3 years and have moved up within the Company very fast. At a time when I was facing professional challenges Doug was there to support and provide grounded and solid advice. His professional relationship with me was candid and right to the point. I do not think Doug knows exactly what this relationship has meant, but if I were to recommend anyone to this awesome program, I would recommend they put Doug Gaston at the front of the line. He was not only a mentor, but is now considered to be a friend.

Martha Soehren, Senior Vice President and Chief Learning Officer (Mentor)

I’ve served as a WICT Mentor for about five years and have loved every minute of it. This year, when I reviewed Kristina’s application and found I was matched with her, I was intrigued because first of all, I didn’t know Kristina and saw it as an opportunity to get to know a young and talented professional – and too, her interest and her background were impressive. I felt I could be helpful to her, while learning from her as well. And it did indeed turn out to be the case. I really appreciated Kristina's style, her openness and her credibility. I really enjoyed the high level of trust we developed with each other. I think this year's WICT Mentoring Program was robust with opportunity and it was a pleasure experiencing it as a mentor and as a member of WICT.

Kristina Chang, Senior Manager, Internal Audit (Mentee)

I have been a WICT member since 2006. The WICT Greater Philadelphia Mentoring Program has offered me the opportunity to meet three extraordinary women of Comcast (Martha Soehren, Sheila Willard and Nancy Lowe), who have shared invaluable life lessons and career coaching. They have been with me through very important milestones and uplifted me in times of need. I aspire to develop my leadership skills to be more like them and I am extremely grateful for the mentorship and friendship that we have. I would also like to note that Martha Soehren has been a great resource for me this mentoring year. She has provided me with great insights on career advancement, leadership and work-life balance. WICT mentoring is an invaluable program. I highly recommend it!
