On June 30, 2016, Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) hosted the annual Tech It Out Conference, but with a spin this year, being held for the first time at the Villanova University. Tech It Out, first launched in 2009, has since become a yearly conference to raise awareness of opportunities for women and build women leaders in cable technology.

The day commenced with a two-hour breakfast and networking reception, which allowed time for participants to visit the 10-12Sponsor Booths throughout the morning.

Sponsors attending the conference included: Cisco, Comcast, CSG, Eightegrity, EPS, Juniper, Arris, EMC², HBO, QVC, World Wide Technology, Inc, A+E Networks, Amdocs, Arista, PwC, KPMG, Univision, Amdocs and more! It proved to be a fantastic opportunity to network with other companies in similar industries, and to educate each other on Virtual Reality advances. For example, the KPMG booth had Samsung VR Glasses and Microsoft HoloLens for conference attendees to try on. Despite being limitedly available in only the developmental edition, Microsoft HoloLens already make wearers feel like Iron Man. Okay…maybe not that electrifying, but you get the gist.

The remainder of the day consisted of speaker sessions, expert panel Q&A and individual breakout sessions in the afternoon. Notable speakers at the event included Arpit Mathur – Principal Engineer in the Comcast Innovation Labs, Jack Zankowski – Creative Director for Comcast Experience Design, Emerging Platforms – (a designer of the X1 platform), Melinda Witmer  – EVP, COO, Chief Video Officer at Time Warner and Sowmya Gottipati – VP of Media Labs, the innovation arm of NBCUniversal, amongst others!
