Mentorship Attention 2008 Mentees - Please click here to submit payment for your application fee.
The magic of this Mentoring Program is that it is a structured program that integrates class time, self-study, scheduled mentoring meetings and phone calls, and relationship building opportunities. And too, the mentors are very carefully screened and matched with their protégé. This lends to more in-depth mentoring relationships, and in some cases, relationships that will last long after the formal program ends. Research shows that mentoring is a key resource for the motivated employee who wants to learn from a seasoned leader and/or expert. Some studies show that mentoring receives higher scores on the value-add than classroom instruction, particularly as it relates to building and developing leadership skills. And with the WICT mentoring program, strong emphasis is placed on personal and leadership skill enhancement. Mentoring isn’t about fixing a person who’s “broken” – but complimenting a person’s desire to reach out for new knowledge and learn from the lessons of those who’ve experienced more and worked at higher levels. Mentoring isn’t just about skill development, it’s also about sharing, laughing, growing, helping, and committing to a learning relationship with someone we trust. Most mentors in the WICT Mentoring Program have mentors of their own – and in many cases have had them for years. They’ve realized the value of having a mentor and know the payback that should be there for their WICT protégés. Good luck to those embarking on this outstanding opportunity.
