Meet Amy! Manager, HSD Product Business Operations at Comcast

What do you do for work and what do you love about it and what is most challenging?

I am in Internet Product Management under Xfinity Services at Comcast. I focus primarily on our internet customer-base who purchase their own modems – ensuring they have accurate information about the devices that are certified, as well as educating the frontline and helping to communicate the value of renting our xFi Gateway to customers.

I love that my job touches so many groups and tools within the larger organization, from Agents and Techs, to activation, device databases, and managing the customer-facing website MyDeviceInfo.xfinity.com. I get to work with incredibly smart, passionate people who work hard every day to improve customer experience and our business. One of the challenges in working across so many teams is ensuring that we are aligned on strategy and execution.

How have other women inspired you or helped shape your career?

I have had excellent mentors and sponsors through my career who have shared their experiences and have promoted me to their peers and leaders. I am very thankful to be part of an organization that actively promotes women in leadership and the successful balance of career, hobbies, and family.

What is your favorite TV show and/or movie?

I love the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies, and on a random weeknight I can be found re-watching The Office or Parks and Recreation.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I am an advanced open water certified scuba diver, and the first time I dove was at the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns, AU.

What’s your role with WICT? What did you enjoy most about that role?

I have been a WICT volunteer for 3 years. I started as an even volunteer with Tech it Out, and have participated every year since with Tech it Out, and been a Committee co-lead for WICT Philly Gives Back. Investing my time to encourage girls to see the career opportunities in STEM, particularly in technology, is one of the most rewarding experiences I have had through WICT.

Why do you think WICT is important?

WICT was the first networking and leadership organization that I got involved with in the Philadelphia area. As a Seattle-native who moved here three years ago, WICT has been the organization where I have found the most valuable connections both within and outside my current organization. I appreciate that WICT is an industry partnership that facilitates strong mentor relationships with a core value of investing in the next generation of leaders.
