Meet Kelsey! Senior Analyst in Financial Planning and Analysis at Comcast
What do you do for work and what do you love about it and what is most challenging?
Kelsey – I joined Comcast in 2016 as a Financial Analyst working for Comcast Business supporting our carrier sales team. This is where my love for financial modeling and data analysis became prominent as well as a new interest: fiber optic networks. Recently, I joined the Technology and Product team as a Senior Analyst in Financial Planning and Analysis. Our team is working to build out Comcast’s advanced fiber network to deliver the latest technology to our customers. My main role is working with our divisional partners in the field to accurately budget and forecast the capital spent on various projects.
It can be challenging bringing cross functional teams together to agree upon one number or one metric from a financial perspective. However, it has helped me learn different aspects of the business such as engineering and construction that I would not have been exposed to otherwise.
I love having a part behind the scenes of ensuring our customers have access to the best network for our products and services.
How have other women inspired you or helped shape your career?
Kelsey – My mother is my everyday inspiration. As a cancer fighter she is the strongest and most positive person I know. Her ability to find the positive in every situation is something I strive to emulate. She has taught me to keep going at the low points and take the time to celebrate the high points!
What is your favorite TV show and/or movie?
Kelsey – Modern Family. My DVR is full of every episode!
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Kelsey – Growing up I wanted to go to culinary school. While other kids were getting toys for holidays and birthdays I was getting different gadgets to try in the kitchen. I opted for a finance degree from Drexel University but I still love experimenting in the kitchen for friends and family.
What’s your role with WICT? What did you enjoy most about that role?
Kelsey – I joined WICT in 2016 and recently volunteered on the Silent Auction Committee for WICT Philly Gives Back. I worked to implement art as a new category to the auction which was successful in helping to achieve our highest total funds raised for silent auction. It was an amazing experience to see the hard work of all the committees come together to benefit Girls Inc. I felt so much pride and excitement to see my time volunteering directly helped a group of young girls’ path to success become more achievable.
Why do you think WICT is important?
Kelsey – WICT has opened the door to so many new relationships and networks. The idea of women supporting other women is why I joined WICT. I now have a network of people who may share common interests but are vastly diverse and can provide me with new perspectives and ideas. It has been a great way to get involved outside my usual circle and give back to the Philadelphia community.
