Meet Diahna – Director, Xfinity Internet at Comcast!

Describe your role & what you love about it.

In my current product strategy role, I evaluate opportunities to optimize and extend the Internet product portfolio. This may involve building business cases to target under-penetrated customer segments, launch new products or take different approaches to pricing/packaging. I love that my job allows me to tackle a variety of business problems and collaborate across different areas of the company – from marketing to engineering – to deliver solutions.

How have other women inspired you or helped shape your career?

I am inspired by women leaders who are top performers and who are creating space for other women to lead. I have seen good examples of this throughout my career. Early in my career, I aspired to become a television director and was mentored by successful women in entertainment. Now working in technology and business, I continue to see examples of strong women leaders advocating for other women. Women mentors and sponsors have been critical to shaping my own aspirations in business and inspire me to create opportunities for other women.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

Few people know that I get pretty ambitious when it comes to outdoor activities. Last summer, I hiked 4800 feet to the top of Mt Moosilauke in New Hampshire on a whim. This was my first time summiting a mountain on foot and I had no hiking boots or proper hiking gear. I will admit this was risky, but the outcome was well worth it. My risk-tolerance has also benefited me at work since I am always willing to try new approaches.

Why do you think WICT is important?

I have found WICT valuable for fostering leadership development and networking opportunities for women. One of the most meaningful experiences I have had with WICT was participating in the Rising Leaders Program (RLP), an intensive leadership immersion. Through RLP, I was able to build relationships and share best practices with other women leaders across the cable industry. In addition, I learned valuable management tools for expanding my organizational impact such as identifying different social styles and building effective alliances. I appreciate that WICT offers many opportunities like these for women to grow in their careers.
