Essential Allies for Your Career with The WICT Network: Rocky Mountain

Whether you are looking for your next job or promotion it’s important to have allies, mentors and sponsors supporting you through your career journey. Each of these relationships have unique functions and benefits for creating more equitable workplace. Our speakers will discuss:

  • What is a mutually beneficial ally, mentor or sponsorship relationship
  • What are moments of celebrations with allyship
  • How to grow a relationship with your mentor
  • What are the important truths about sponsorships

This event is free for WICT members, and $15 for non-members.


About the Panel: 

Summer McAfee

Summer currently is as a lead program manager at the USAA Austin Design Studio with 22 years on the USAA team to include 15 years in various leadership roles. Outside of work Summer is passionate about volunteering and community outreach events with emphasis on military kids, STEM initiatives and minority youth empowerment programs. She serves on the Community Advisory Council for I Live Here I Give Here and on the Advisory Panel of the Customer Experience Program for the University of Houston. She is an active member of the Association of African American Museums and a board member of Beyond The Ball nonprofit. She was awarded the 2020 volunteer of the year by Dress For Success Austin and serves as a mentor for the Path to Employment program. She is a 2021 fellow for the inaugural cohort of the African American Leadership Institute.

Elizabeth Kaiga

Elizabeth is currently Managing Director, Global Strategic Accounts for Renewable Energy at DNV GL, where she manages customer relationships and quality assurance activities. Her work focuses on providing strategies and solutions to support the global transition to safer, cleaner, reliable, and sustainable energy. She also chairs DNV’s Global Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Board. Elizabeth is a strong supporter of diversity, equity & inclusion, and has received recognition in that capacity from the YMCA of Greater New York, the Houston Business Journal, and the U.S. Department of Energy. Elizabeth serves on the Board of Directors for Women of Renewable Industries & Sustainable Energy (WRISE) and for Solar Sister. Elizabeth serves in an advisory capacity to both the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC) and the Education Committee for the Solar Power International Conference.

Moderator: Brenna Doehring

Brenna is a Senior Executive Consultant with Computer Futures.  She is dedicated to building long term, and mutually beneficial relationships with new and existing clients, while delivering top tier STEM professionals in the Denver and St. Louis markets.  She is also a member of Breaking the Glass and has a passion for empowering women and underrepresented groups in the workplace.
