The speakers include:

Leslie Chapman (Distinguished Engineer) helped to create the X1 TV guide, which over 30 million people use every day! On the Digital Home team she works on mobile apps that connect customers to their smart homes. Leslie loves to cook and play with her 2 cats and 2 dogs.

Sumayyah Ahmed (Android Engineer) worked on Comcast’s TV streaming app, where 5 million people watch their favorite content, and now creates Android mobile apps that connect customers to their smart home devices. She loves building computers and baking.

Kayla Kasprak (Mobile Software Engineer) has worked on video delivery for Comcast and Apple TV apps for NBC News. She now develops iPhone app features for new customers. She’s a total nerd for mobile app architecture, code reviews, and Swift!

Yvette Thornton (Director, Patent Development, Cable) works with engineers at Comcast NBCUniversal to identify unique aspects of their work solutions. She has two children plus a bonus daughter and is learning Python (a programming language) and American Sign Language.

Nithya Ruff (Executive Director, Open Source Program Office) leads a team that helps software developers use global collaboration and open source software to develop their products and helps them use and share software from all over the world! She loves being a mom to two daughters and cooking spicy vegetarian dishes.

Jessica Sant (VP, Discovery Engineering) leads the engineering group that lets Xfinity customers find content to watch (through Search, Browse, Voice Remote). Jess spends time playing games and making art with her 12-year old daughter.

We work directly with teachers during the school day to provide programming that promotes STEM education and career advancement for girls and non-binary youth from historically marginalized communities. Through hands-on events that connect students with role models who live and work in their communities, students recognize new possibilities for their futures.
