WICT Signature Luncheon, By Meredith B. Rendall

“Have you ever attended WICT’s Signature Luncheon? If you haven’t, I need to let you in on a little secret, Go! As a new “Comcaster,” this is my first year as a WICT member and Signature Luncheon attendee, and boy did I hit the jackpot on both counts. On May 2, I traveled to New York City to participate in WICT’s 40-year anniversary celebration and was captivated by its history of forging gender diversity and inclusion in the cable and telecommunications industry. The anniversary luncheon presented a robust program from start to finish (and some surprisingly delicious food in between).”

Friday, May 17 is
World Telecommunications Day (WTD)?

This year is the 50th anniversary of World Telecommunication and Information Society Day. The day marks the founding of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) on May 17, 1865 when the first international Telegraph Convention was signed in Paris.

Meet Dalila! Senior Vice President, Community Impactat Comcast Corporation!
Describe your role & what you love about it.

I lead the team that oversees Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation, Employee Engagement & Volunteerism and our corporate sponsorship portfolio. Each day my experiences are unique. I have an opportunity to meet and connect with different individuals and organizations inside and outside of our company and industry.

How have other women inspired you or helped shape your career?

They helped me see what’s possible, to get comfortable with risk and to always trust my gut instinct.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I’m an introvert!

Why do you think WICT is important?

Women in every industry need institutions that can help us network and be inspired by other women as well as to help advance our knowledge of the industry. WICT plays this critical role locally and nationally and I so value being a member. Having come from outside the industry, WICT has been an incredible resource for me personally.
