Meet Sarah! Senior Regional Manager at QVC

What do you do for work and what do you love about it and what is most challenging?
Sarah:  I work with new and current distribution partners to maintain our existing carriage as well as secure new and favorable carriage for QVC’s three networks: QVC, QVC2 and Beauty iQ.  I love working with our distributors to maximize their partnership with QVC.  Also, I enjoy reading and analyzing distribution agreements.

I really appreciate that we work in a dynamic industry.  There’s never a dull moment, whether it’s a new technology changing the way we discover and watch content – to the rise of prestige television.  Working at QVC adds another dimension – we occupy this great space at the intersection of entertainment and retail.
I’m fortunate to have a role that is interesting and keeps me busy.  Sometimes it is a challenge to unplug and walk away.  There is always one more thing I’d like to get done or a new project to start, and I enjoy being busy!

How have other women inspired you or helped shape your career?
Sarah: I’ve been lucky in my career to work with and for women who have believed in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself.  These women have taken time out of their busy day to share their knowledge and encourage a curious mind.  Knowledge is a gift that can never be lost.

What is your favorite TV show and/or movie?
Sarah: It’s so hard to pick just one!  I really enjoyed the recent season of Game of Thrones, I’m loving how SyFy has adapted Lev Grossman’s book “The Magicians” for TV, and wish HBO would bring back “The Newsroom” which featured some of my favorite writing ever.

What is something that most people don’t know about you?
Sarah:  I’m an introvert with a nerdy streak, and my favorite thing to do after a long day is lose myself in a good book.

What’s your role with WICT? What did you enjoy most about that role?
Sarah: I’m thrilled to be attending the 2017 WICT Leadership Conference and have the opportunity to network with peers and leaders within the industry.  I’d like to become a more active member with WICT and the conference is a great start!

Why do you think WICT is important?
Sarah: I’ve attended a number of WICT events in my 10+ years with QVC and am always impressed with the passion that members have for WICT and the industry, and their readiness to support each other.  I think it’s important to foster a space like this for woman to grow personally and professionally.
