Meet Sreerag: Director, Data Products at Comcast
What do you love most about your job?
For me, it’s a combination of technology, environment, and a sense of achievement. I am a mechanical engineer who started my career in data, loved it, and chose not to leave the space. At Comcast in addition to my daily duties, I am able to spend time mentoring, being mentored, and contributing to the community through volunteering and DEI activities.
What are the biggest obstacles you see for young women in the media, entertainment and/or technology industries?
Industry bias and typecasting. Especially on the technology side, we continue to be a male-dominated industry - even as we see changes happening. One of the challenges I see is typecasting women to certain roles due to inherent biases. For example, we see more women in managerial and administrative roles than in pure technology roles. Though women excel in those roles just like any other, we need to keep vigilant eyes on our biases and ensure skills are equally valued across genders. We should also encourage our women technologists to grow in the space.
