What do you love most about your job?

What I love most about my job is the incredible diversity of perspectives and talents that my colleagues bring to the table. Working in technology, it's empowering to be part of a team where creativity, intelligence, and determination come together to create amazing experiences for both our employees and customers. I feel fortunate to collaborate with people who are passionate about fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. Together, we're not just developing great functionality, but also contributing to a workplace culture that values everyone's unique contributions.  Our diversity also enables us to create the most optimal digital experience for employees and customers.

What are the biggest obstacles you see for young women in the media, entertainment and/or technology industries?

Our business is full of opportunities and there are so many facets of media, entertainment, and technology to learn.  It's important for young women to navigate this landscape by continuously learning about the industry's various facets, connecting the dots, and gaining context to understand where things are headed.

Moreover, fostering a strong network is crucial. Networking can be a hurdle, especially for women facing gender-related challenges. Seeking mentors, advocates, and sponsors within the industry is not just beneficial but can be a transformative force in overcoming these obstacles. By actively participating in networks and supporting each other, we can collectively break down barriers and create more inclusive environments that empower young women to thrive in these dynamic fields.

What do you value most about your membership with The WICT Network?

The WICT network is an empowering group of women and men that are driven to support and lift each other up.  Due to the membership base consisting of a global network, there are infinite opportunities to gain knowledge and insights into leadership strategies, technical knowledge sharing and learning.  WICT provides a safe place to converse and ask questions about all topics.  This environment is a career and personal catalyst which has inspired me in continued growth and perseverance.

Since March 2020 I’ve learned…

The profound significance of family time, especially in the context of the unique challenges brought about by the pandemic. Our family grew stronger during this period, and we learned about each other in ways that wouldn't have been possible in the hustle and bustle of 'normal' life.

In navigating the demands of a dynamic career in technology, I've come to understand the importance of work-life balance. Building strong, understanding relationships with my children and partner has not only been personally fulfilling but has also contributed to my professional well-being. I've learned that investing in self-care is not just a luxury but a necessity. It's a practice that not only makes me a better mother, partner, and friend but also enhances my effectiveness in the fast-paced world of technology. Striking this balance has been a key factor in fostering a resilient and collaborative family life, which, in turn, positively influences my career in the tech industry.

My favorite mantra is…

If you can dream it, you can do it.

One book, TV show, or movie I’d recommend (and why!) is…

Getting to Yes by Robert Fisher.  Negotiation is a key skill in both business and personal lives.  Getting to Yes is focused on helping you develop mutually acceptable pathways for all different scenarios while working with various personalities with their own goals.  It's a guide that has personally enhanced my ability to navigate complex scenarios, fostering understanding and cooperation.
